Barbara Szatañski

Flowers as Nature’s Art is a photography-focused project created by Ottawa artist Barbara “BaSzia” Szatanski in memory of her mother, who passed away from ovarian cancer. The project began with Barbara capturing the delicate beauty of garden blooms and transforming those images into original flower photo cards.

Selling these cards became her way of supporting Ovarian Cancer Canada, honouring her mother through art that brings comfort, colour, and hope to others. Over time, the collection has grown to include a wider range of photographic pieces, but its purpose remains rooted in that first intention: using the simple, uplifting beauty of flowers to make a meaningful difference.

Barbara has been showing her photography with Art in the Neighbourhood since 2016. She is one of the founding members of the group.
