BaSzia's first love as an artist has always been pen and ink. More than 30 years ago she was exploring ink line drawings and calligraphy, she created images inspired by plants and nature. She always found this medium calming and therapeutic.

Over the years, she has explored graphite, watercolour, acrylic and marker while taking courses at the Ottawa School of Art, City of Ottawa programming and Continuing Education at the Ottawa Carleton-District School Board. During this time of uncertainty and great change, it is has been a comfort to once again take up ink line drawing. Most recently, Barbara has been exploring merging watercolour with pen and ink. She is currently taking a course on coloured pencil and is experimenting with the range that this medium has to offer.
