ChipChip Mosaics

Tonya Parriag

Tonya Parriag

Tonya (of ChipChip Mosaics) has been a professional artist since 2002, and started her love affair with mosaics sixteen years ago. Like many artists, she's worked in different mediums over time, and trained formally in clay sculpture, mould-making and bronze casting at OCAD. After leaving art college, she also left access to the main bronze foundry in the area, and exploration in mosaics began back when she was assisting a friend with retiling her bathroom floor. Her work is mostly representational and tends to depict people and other creatures at home, as well as occasional abstract designs. She's passionate about community art, and has carried out workshops with all ages and groups in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and overseas. Since then, the rest is a delightful blur of tiles of all colours and textures in a range of sizes and formats.

Tonya joined Art in the Neighbourhood in 2023.
