Barbara began Flowers as Nature's Art as an endeavour solely devoted to supporting research at Ovarian Cancer Canada. Proceeds from the photo cards are donated each year at the annual Walk of Hope in memory of her mother, Anne Szatañski (1929-2007) who lost her life to ovarian cancer. Since 2007 Szebra Publishing has produced Flowers as Nature's Art photo cards and has donated over $4,000 to OCC. It is through the sale of cards at Langdon's Flowers, various art shows and the support of many friends, that donations are continuously collected.
